The Demo Begins

If you haven't been downtown in the last couple of days you missed it! Demolition on the old library began Monday, Oct 26 and most of the building is now gone...just a bit of the foundation and debris remains today. To see the bulldozer in action, go to:

Friends of the Fallbrook Library is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the Fallbrook Branch of the San Diego County Library. The group is spearheading the campaign to raise funds for a new and expanded library and cultural center complex to be built on grounds of the existing facility.

Today - the reality:

existing library, built in 1987, is 8,100 square feet

circulation averages 240,000 items per year

there are 26,000+ cardholders in Fallbrook, Bonsall, DeLuz and Rainbow area

too few computers (wait time may be one hour)

space cannot accommodate the summer reading program special events (must be held off-site)

The new library is COMING!

Tomorrow - the dream:

expand the facility to approximately 17,500 square feet

provide a state-of-the-art library and community facility

increase the number of computers

enhance the children’s library

include a “teen” space

incorporate a community room

provide space and seating for reading and study

expand the bookstore area

Now, here is where you'll find me most of the time especially after a day at the Farmer's Market! I love the charm of this small town and how I love a good book!
